Weight Management

Obesity is a leading contributor to morbidity and mortality in the United States. The risk for hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease are all increased with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 29.9. BMI is a calculation of a person’s weight in kilograms divided by height in meters, and is an indicator of high body fat. In addition to the health implications of obesity, there are emotional and psychological factors which may be increased by obesity, such as poor body-image, anxiety, reduced self-esteem, and depression. The Weight Loss Clinic at Audubon Family Medicine is intended to offer resources which facilitate safe weight loss, and is designed to improve quality of life for our patients. We conduct a body composition analysis to determine pounds of fat, lean body mass, and body water. Treatment plans are then individualized based on your caloric needs.

Our program also includes nutrition management with meal planning, vitamin B-12 injections to increase metabolism, and supplements which help elevate energy, regulate water retention, lower cholesterol, eliminate sweet cravings, elevate moods, prevent fat rebound, and detoxify your body. We also offer prescription weight loss medications as needed for those with no medical or physical contraindications to treatment.
